Year 8/9 girls had their first game of the season against Heston Community School. They pulled through with a fantastic 4-0 win.
Well done girls!
Bolder running club completed their first 5km around Osterley Park. Students have been doing lots of running drills in school to improve their pace and endurance. In their most recent 5km run, all students improved on their times.
Year 10/11 girls faced St Marks and it was an extremely tight game. St Marks clinched it in the final quarter and won 10-7.
Well done to everyone who played and came to support the team.
Climbing Club
There has been a fantastic response from students signing up for this year’s Autumn term clubs. In particular, the extra-curricular Climbing clubs for our Year 10/11 GCSE PE students and our Year 7’s have proved popular.
On Tuesdays after-school, Year 10 and 11 GCSE PE students have been attending a weekly climbing club to support them with their Climbing practical assessment at the end of November. They have been learning about health and safety, knot tying, belaying, climbing technique and will have a few more weeks after half term to refine their skills before we welcome staff from Peak Climbing School to complete their final GCSE practical training and assessment.
On Wednesday mornings from 7.45-8.30am, sixteen Year 7 students have been attending a Climbing club following a lot of interest during the registration period. So far, they have received introductory sessions to health and safety, belaying, climbing technique, which included playing Climbing Dodgeball.
West London Inclusive PE and School Sport Workshops
On Tuesday 15th October, school staff from schools across West London attended Inclusive PE and school sport workshops at Bolder Academy. Mainstream and special school teachers attended from the London boroughs of Hounslow, Hillingdon and Brent.
The morning workshop focused on tools and strategies to ensure all students can engage and make progress in PE. The afternoon focused on an introduction to disability sport for the delegates through the Youth Sport Trust’s TOP Sportsability resource.
The whole day was delivered practically giving delegates the opportunities to experience and try new ideas and included traditional sports in addition to the Paralympic sports of Sitting Volleyball, Goalball and Boccia.
