A group of selected Year 9 students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend a performance of Abigail’s Party at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.

Organised by Miss Haynes, the trip offered students a chance to enjoy Mike Leigh’s classic comedy of manners, which explores themes of social ambition, class, and relationships with wit and humour.

The students were captivated by the production, praising the engaging performances and the clever use of set design that brought the world of 1970s suburbia to life.

The experience didn’t end there. A few weeks later, the same students took part in a hands-on workshop run by members of the Rose Theatre team. The workshop deepened their understanding of the play and introduced them to drama techniques used by professional actors. Through improvisation, character exploration, and scene work, the students gained insight into the creative process and had the chance to develop their own performance skills.

A huge thank you to the Rose Theatre for inspiring our Year 9 students with the magic of theatre!
