At the end of last year, Bolder Academy was accepted as part of the RTM foundation for the high quality music education we offer and was consequently awarded a £20,000 grant to spend on new instruments this year!
As well as a class set of brass instruments, recorders for all of our Y8 students, 2 silent rehearsal systems, a digital grand piano and new top-end keyboards, students have already been enjoying making use of our extensive samba drumming set and Indonesian gamelan equipment that you can see in the images above.
Due to the commitment and skill of our music students, our department also won the Jack Petchey Award at the end of last year, meaning we were able to take our Y11 cohort on an after school trip to the West End to enjoy the stage musical ‘Wicked’ and it certainly lived up to its name. Students had a great time hearing pieces they have studied in class performed live with an orchestra.
