Before the October half-term break, 19 of our Sixth Form students tackled the very difficult terrain of the Brecon Beacons in Wales.
The four-day expedition weather conditions made the trip even tougher as they navigated their way and camped through the full force of Storm Babet. The students showed incredible resilience to make it to the end of the trip and further developed a range of skills in preparation for their next round of expeditions in the summer term. These skills included:
- Navigation and map reading
- Campcraft and tent building
- Outdoor cooking
- Survival and first aid
The expedition consisted of various routes which had to be navigated and each day required 8 hours of walking in a team guided by the map route and a compass.
Our students were incredibly brave. They showed kindness and great teamwork by supporting each other along the way, as shown in some of the pictures.
Well done to all our Sixth-form DofE Gold students. We are incredibly proud of you!
